How does Jerri T. beocme an Army Veteran for a day? The Freedom Team Salute is only for Army Veterans and not for Navy or other services. Who told Jerri this?

How does a Navy Veteran become an "Army Veteran for a day?" Is this
establishing a precedent?

"During the breakfast several members were presented the Army Freedom
Team Salute, which includes a certificate and letter off thanks signed
by the Army Chief of Staff and the Secretary of the Army. I received
this award myself, it was quite a surprise and a very special honor for
a Navy veteran like myself. I was told I was in the Army for the day.

Broken Bow Records Dean Brody Receives an Official Army Commendation

Neptune, NJ- During a concert with WKMK in Neptune, New Jersey this past weekend, The United States Army Freedom Team surprised Broken Bow's Dean Brody with a letter saluting him for his touching debut single "Brothers."
"Brothers," the self-penned emotional song, was written completely off the hook and from the heart. Brody was inspired after watching the hit TV mini-series "Band of Brothers." Brody performed "Brothers" and other songs from his forthcoming album for WKMK. The United States Army Field band, "The Volunteers," played for the full crowd as well.

After the performance, Brody was presented with the official U.S. Army Commendation "Freedom Team Salute."

The Salute Reads:
Certificate of Appreciation
Dean Brody
For outstanding contributions to the United States Army. The Army greatly appreciates your support of soldiers fighting the global war on terrorism and is proud to recognize your personal sacrifices in preserving the freedom and security of our Nation.
Signed:
George W. Casey Jr. Pete Green
General, United States Army Secretary of the Army
Chief of Staff

Freedom Team Salute Ambassadors are truly the backbone of the Freedom Team Salute Program. Ambassadors integrate Freedom Team Salute into their daily activities and seek out new outreach opportunities in order to provide visibility of Freedom Team Salute in Veteran and Soldier communities. Most importantly, you serve as a critical link in allowing Veterans and supporters of Soldiers to share their personal Army stories.
Since Freedom Team Salute’s inception, Ambassadors have conducted hundreds of outreach activities, written stories for The Salute newsletter, hosted dozens of Commendation Ceremonies, submitted articles to local papers, and recruited new Ambassadors. Most importantly, your dedication and hard work have helped us to recognize over 1.4 million deserving Army Veterans and supporter of Soldiers with a Freedom Team Salute Commendation. Visit the website to find out more and how to honor veterans.
